Athletic Department to Host Bowl Luncheons

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Eagle Clubs on the Gulf Coast and in Meridian, Jackson, Laurel and Hattiesburg will host New Orleans Bowl luncheons from Wednesday, Dec. 7 - Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Southern Miss football coaches and members from the athletic staff will give updates on the team and talk about the upcoming New Orleans Bowl. Fans are invited to come eat, drink and mingle with coaches and staff. Several great give-away items will be presented.
The first luncheon will take place at the Bayou Bluff Tennis Club in Gulfport, Miss., on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. The featured speakers will be Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini, Eagle Club Executive Director Dick Vogel, former Golden Eagle All-American quarterback Reggie Collier and Offensive Line Coach Mitch Rodrigue.
The next luncheon will be on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Noon at the Crescent City Grill in Meridian, Miss. The featured speakers will be Collier, Vogel and Defensive Coordinator Jay Hopson, along with other members of the athletic staff.
On Friday, Dec. 9, Offensive Coordinator Jay Johnson, Hopson, Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs Scott Carr and Vogel will be the featured speakers at Friday's luncheon at the River Hills Tennis Club in Jackson, Miss., at Noon.
The Southern Miss luncheon at Buffalo Wild Wings in Hattiesburg will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, starting at Noon. The football and basketball coaches and Collier will be the featured speakers.
Giannini will be the featured speaker at the final pre-bowl luncheon at the Western Sizzlin' in Laurel, Miss., on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Noon.
This year's bowl appearance by Southern Miss marks the second-straight appearance in the New Orleans Bowl, fourth in a row and eighth bowl appearance in the past nine years for the Golden Eagles. Last season, Southern Miss defeated North Texas, 31-10.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets from the Southern Miss Ticket Office. Premium sideline tickets are $40 each, Goal line tickets are $20 each, and Southern Miss student tickets are $20 each.
