November 23, 2005: 17th Entry - On the loss against Memphis, what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving, the annual "Battle for The Bell" game against Tulane this Saturday and their last game at The Rock.
*Notes from the Memphis game: Kevis made a career and season-high 20 tackles (15 solo; five assists) against Memphis along with two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. For the season, Kevis leads the team in tackles with 133 (72 solo; 61 assists), sacks (5) and tackles for loss (11). He also has three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Trevis posted 12 tackles (eight solo; four assists) against Memphis. For the season, Trevis has posted 91 tackles (55 solo; 36 assists), two interceptions and two pass break ups.
Kevis: We came out slow against Memphis. We knew we had to stop (running back) DeAngelo Williams, and I think we played well against him in the second half. Overall as a defense, we didn't play as well in the first half as we did in the second.
Trevis: Going into our last game against Tulane, we have a must-win attitude. As a senior, we've had a winning season since I've been here, and this senior class doesn't want to be the one to break the non-losing season streak (currently at 11 seasons). This game is very important to us in getting a win and becoming bowl eligible.
Kevis: With this being Thanksgiving week, I've been thankful for life, health, strength and shelter over my head. I'm also thankful for my teammates, especially after everything we went through during Hurricane Katrina, my coaches and everything and everyone with Southern Miss. I'm thankful for a lot.
Trevis: I'm most thankful for life and the strength to play football, and the chance to go out this Saturday and give everything we've got in a must-win situation.
Kevis: The things that we've been through because of the hurricane aren't near as much as what Tulane has been through this season. My heart goes out to all of their families. I know that it's been tough for them to play 11 games basically on the road. I wish them the best, but there is a game to play on Saturday and both teams have a lot to play for in this rivalry game.
Trevis: We have a great amount of respect for Tulane with everything they've had to deal with this season. We all know that this has been a tough time for them, but this is one of our biggest rivalry games in "The Battle for The Bell." I think that they are going to give everything they have on Saturday. We need this win, and though they only have two wins on the season, they're not going to give us this game; we have to take it.
Kevis: This is my last game at The Rock and it's going to be a big game. I don't want to leave any regrets out there, and I want to do everything I possibly can to help the team win. It's going to be sad to come off the field at the end, knowing it's my last game at home. Hopefully we'll be able to come off the field with a win and a chance to play again in a bowl game.
Trevis: I think that this year's senior class led and motivated this team well. There aren't as many seniors in this class as in past years, but the younger players have a great amount of respect for us.
Kevis: If this is the last Twin Perspectives, then I'd like to say that this has been fun to do. Doing this gave people the opportunity to get to know me and Trevis, and what goes on with Southern Miss football.
Trevis: Hopefully we'll get a win this Saturday and go to a bowl, so this won't be the last week for Twin Perspectives.
