? The Southern Miss football team begins at four game road stretch Friday, facing UAB in a 7 p.m., nationally televised ESPN contest.
The two teams meet for the sixth time on Friday. Southern Miss holds a 5-0 series lead, including a 26-21 victory last year in

The team has accumulated 1,668 yards of total offense this season (1,183 passing, 485 rushing), averaging 333.6 yards per game (236.6 passing, 97.0 rushing). The squad scores 34.2 points per contest, which ranks leads Conference

The Golden Eagle receiving core got a big blow this week, as the team?s leading receiver, Antwon Courington, will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL. He will have season-ending surgery on Oct. 26. Courington has a team-best 24 catches for 329 yards, averaging 13.7 yards per catch and five touchdowns. He caught two touchdowns against UCF and
Anthony Perine ranks second on the team with 12 catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 12.1 yards per catch. Shawn Nelson has nine catches for 135 yards, averaging 15 yards per catch. Chris Johnson ranks fourth on the team with nine catches for 120 yards. He stepped up against UCF, catching a career-high eight passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns, for the first 100-yard receiving game of his career.
Jasper Faulk leads the team with eight punt returns for 102 yards, ranking No. 2 in Conference
Luke Johnson has punted 16 times for 717 yards, averaging 44.8 yards per punt. The team ranks No. 1 in Conference
Darren McCaleb has made 10-of-12 field goal on the season, and 19-19in extra-point attempts. He currently ranks No. 1 in Conference
Defensively, the team has 344 total tackles on the year (220 solos, 124 assists), 30 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, seven interceptions, 16 pass breakups, eight forced fumbles and 11 fumble recoveries. The unit ranks No. 69 nationally and No. 7 in Conference
Kevis Coley leads the defense with 55 total tackles (28 solos, 27 assists). He also has 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks on the season. Lindsey also leads the team with eight punt returns for 27 yards, while also ranking first on the squad with seven kickoff returns for 147 yards, averaging 21.0 yards per return.
Parker Mullins has 23 punts for 840 yards, averaging 36.5 yards per punt. He also has connected on 8-of-11 field goals, including a long of 37 yards.
Defensively, the Blazers have 446 total tackles (218 solos, 228 assists), 30 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 11 interceptions, nine forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 19 pass breakups. The Blazer defense ranks No. 1 in Conference
