Almond Named Conference USA Offensive Player Of The Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss senior quarterback Dustin Almond was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week today, for his performance against UCF on Saturday. Almond earns the honor for the second time in his career, as he also earned Player of the Week accolades following the TCU game in 2003.
This marks the second time in this season that a Golden Eagle has earned Player of the Week accolades, as Darren McCaleb became the first to earn the honor following his performance against
Against UCF, Almond tied a school and M.M. Roberts Stadium record with five touchdown passes, matching Lee Roberts? performance against Louisiana-Lafayette in 1998. He also ran for a touchdown, giving him six total touchdowns in the game. Almond finished the game completing 23-of-37 passes for 277 yards, for the third highest passing total of his career.
