McNutt Announces Three Softball Signees
Southern Miss Head Softball Coach Gay McNutt announced three softball signees today. |
HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss Head Softball Coach Gay McNutt announced the signing of three players, Nichole Chisolm, Samantha Davis and Melody Rossell for the 2005-06 season.
?I?m very excited about our signing class,? McNutt said. ?These three players have great potential, and we expect them to make big contributions to our team next year.?
Chisolm, a 5?5? senior at Clinton HS in
?I think Nicole is going to be a tremendous asset for us,? McNutt said. ?I think she will help us immediately when she arrives on campus next year. She?s got a lot of speed, is a good hitter and has a strong arm. She?s a good athlete.?
?I think Samantha will be a big help for us very quickly,? McNutt said. ?She moves the ball around the plate and plays against some tough competition in
Melody Rossell is a teammate of Nichole Chisolm at Clinton HS. Rossell, a 5-5 senior switch hitter, can play both in the outfield and at second base. In 2004, she was named the team?s Best All-Around Player, garnered all-district honors, and earned The Clarion Ledger?s Player of the Week on Feb. 3, 2004. Rossell earned the team?s defensive player award in 2003, and earned Gatorade Player of the Week honors. She had a .392 batting average from the right side, and a .408 average from the left. Rossell is the daughter of Randy and Theresa Rossell.
?Melody will see some action in the outfield when she gets to campus,? McNutt said. ?She?s a good athlete, has speed on the base paths and will be a good addition to our team.?
