Johnson Named Conference USA Special Teams Player Of The Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss junior punter Luke Johnson was named Conference

USA

?s Special Teams Player of the Week, for games played Sept. 23-25.

This marks the second time Johnson has been tabbed Southern Miss Special Teams Player of the Week, also earning the honor after last season's USF game (10/25/03).

Johnson punted four times for an average of 42.5 yards per kick in Southern Miss? 32-14 win at Tulane. Johnson recorded a season-long punt of 56 yards in the game.

Johnson joins senior linebacker Michael Boley and sophomore kicker Darren McCaleb, who were tabbed Conference USA?s players of the week for games ending Sept. 13.

Southern Miss (2-0, 1-0 in Conference USA) returns to action Saturday, as the team travels to Tampa, Fla., to take on USF. The game time is set for 6 p.m.
