Boley Named Walter Camp Defensive Player Of The Week
Boley set a career-high with 20 tackles, 12 solos and eight assists, in Southern Miss? 21-17 win over Nebraska in Lincoln, as the Golden Eagles became the first non-conference opponent to win at Nebraska since Washington won at Nebraska in 1991. The
Saturday marked the 17th career game that Boley reached double figures in tackles. His 20 tackle total ties him for fourth on the Southern Miss single-game total, while his 12 unassisted tackles ties him for sixth on the school?s single-game total.
Boley finished with 151 total tackles in 2003, including 101 solos and 50 assists. He led Southern Miss with 22.5 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks last season, while breaking up five passes, recovering three fumbles, and forcing three fumbles.
Walter Camp, ?The Father of American football,? first selected an All-American team in 1889. Camp, a former Yale University athlete and football coach, is credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to 11 men per side. The Walter Camp Football Foundation was founded in 1967.
