Football Standouts Receive More Recognition

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? Southern Miss senior linebacker Michael Boley added another honor to his long list of preseason accolades today, as he was named First-Team All-American by collegefootballnews.com.

The web site listed Boley, a consensus preseason All-American, as the 13th-best player in the country and the second-rated linebacker in the nation.

In addition, junior John Eubanks was named Third-Team All-American as a kick returner, while senior Marvin Young garnered Honorable-Mention All-American honors as a punt returner.

Senior offensive lineman Jeremy Parquet was named to the collegefootballnews.com All-American watch list.

Southern Miss opens its 2004 football schedule Sept. 11 at Nebraska in an 11 a.m., nationally televised contest on ABC, and opens its home schedule the following Thursday, Sept. 16, against Cal, in a 6:30 p.m., game on ESPN.
