Lady Eagles Travel To Face Southeastern La. In Softball Clash HATTIESBURG, Miss. --
The Lady Eagles (18-17, 6-3 in Conference USA) face the Lions (15-17, 5-7 in Southland) at 6 p.m., at North Oak Park in Hammond, La. This is the second meeting of the season for the two teams, who earlier met in a 6-5 Southern Miss win in Hattiesburg in February.

Southern Miss enters the game on a four-game win streak that included a single victory over Mississippi State and a three-game sweep over league foe Houston over the weekend. The Lions are on a three-game skid however, falling in a weekend series to Texas-San Antonio.
Senior outfielder and current Conference USA Hitter of the Week Auriel Jenkins paces the Lady Eagles' offense with a .361 average, while also ranking among the team leaders in hits (30) and RBIs (17). Sophomore first baseman Ashley Davis follows with a .337 average and is tops in hits (35) and second in RBIs (18). Junior outfielder Diane Hammes is hitting .321, while sophomore second baseman Charity Butler and senior outfielder Heather Bell rank fourth and fifth with respective .307 and .303 averages. Sophomore third baseman Ashley Brenan leads the team in doubles (11) and RBIs (19).
Senior Jessica Holaway has a team-high 8-5 record and leads with a 3.14 ERA. The senior has 21 appearances on the season with 55 strikeouts and 26 walks. Senior Danielle Hatfield holds on to a 3.58 ERA, while also sporting a 4-3 record and 30 strikeouts. Sophomore Danielle Wymer has been strong as of late, improving her record to 4-5. Wymer also has a 6.45 ERA and 19 strikeouts. Freshman Jessica Saunier holds a 2-4 record, 16 strikeouts and a 7.25 ERA.
For the Lions, Karin Smith leads all players with a .378 average, 37 hits, 10 home runs and 34 RBIs, while Sarah Gascon is second with a .309 average and 30 hits. Becky de la Garza and Amy Ford have 25 and 24 hits, respectively. Summer Delaneuville has an 11-6 pitching record and leads all starters with a 2.49 ERA and 91 strikeouts.
Following the midweek game, the Lady Eagles return home to host UAB in a three-game Conference USA series. The two teams meet in a doubleheader on Saturday (1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) and play in a single game on Sunday (1 p.m.).
