Southern Miss Athletics Advertisements Wins Jackson Federation ADDY Awards HATTIESBURG, Miss. ?
"Danny Mitchell, President of the GodwinGroup and a Southern Miss Alum, has been a tremendous friend and supporter of Southern Miss and our athletics department," Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini said. "Our relationship with one of the premier advertising agencies in the Southeast has been very beneficial to our marketing efforts, and we thank them for their support of Southern Miss Athletics."
The Southern Miss Department of Athletics has enjoyed a relationship with the GodwinGroup Advertising Agency for over three years. Through this relationship and in conjunction with the GodwinGroup, several Southern Miss Athletic television advertisements won awards at the Jackson Advertising Federation ADDY Awards on February 21.
"Grocery Store". a television spot produced for men?s basketball, won a Gold ADDY award. This spot also won Best of Show Broadcast as well as Best of Show Overall. This means that the judges thought the "Grocery Store" spot was the best television commercial out of all the 50 or so commercials (radio and TV) entered in the competition, as well as the single best piece of advertising out of all 400+ total entries in the competition. In addition, the "Around the World". a television spot featuring Brett Favre, produced for football, won a Silver ADDY.
The Jackson Advertising Federation ADDY Awards is the premier showcase for advertising in the state of Mississippi, and winners in this competition will move on to the 7th District ADDY competition for the American Advertising Federation. If they win at that level, they advance to a national competition.
