Football Continues Cincinnati Preparations
Following today?s practice, Head Football Coach Jeff Bower said he wasn?t pleased with the team?s practice, following last week?s bye week.
?We had too many mental errors today,? Bower said. ?We had some mistakes on offense that we?ve got to eliminate. That was a negative for us and it isn?t good. Tomorrow will be a critical practice for us.?
Bower said that starting quarterback Dustin Almond has improved physically and ?feels better and he?s gaining confidence in going full speed.? Bower added that DaRon Lawrence (knee) is ?doing fine? and senior wide receiver Marvin Young (turf toe) ?made a lot of progress today,? saying both will be fine for Saturday?s game.
Southern Miss, ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press and ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches Poll and No. 23 in the BCS Standings, hosts Cincinnati Saturday at 2 p.m., from M.M. Roberts Stadium. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the Southern Miss Ticket Office at 601-266-4518 or 1-800-844-TICK.
Saturday?s game will be a special occasion, as the Department of Athletics will honor several -time All-Pro (NFL), Collegiate All-American and former Golden Eagle standout punter Ray Guy for his induction in the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame that will take place in December in New York.
