Men's Basketball Continues Preseason Workouts HATTIESBURG, Miss.
The practice was the team's sixth since opening the preseason on Oct. 16. While there are now a few workouts under their belts, Eustachy still has concerns from his 2004-05 squad.
"There is some concern about our mental toughness and leadership," Eustachy said. "We need to establish that."
But those concerns are what Eustachy expected at this point of the season because of the newness involved.
"We are about where I expected us to be," Eustachy said. "We have a lot of new out here -- new coaches, new players and a new philosophy. We are where we should be as a team and as a program right now, but we are not where we need to be to compete the way we want to."
The Golden Eagles continue the preseason with practices on Thursday and Friday, before taking part in the Golden Eagle Basketball "Mid-day Madness" with the women's team on Saturday.
The preseason event begins with a free cookout at 1 p.m., outside the Coliseum, and then continues indoors with team introductions, scrimmages and a 3-point shootout. When the scrimmage action is completed, players and coaches from both squads will be available on the Coliseum floor to sign autographs.
Admission to the event is free to the general public.
Ticket office representatives also will be on hand to take orders for the fast-approaching season, and prospective ticket holders also will have the opportunity to select their seats for the upcoming slate. Season ticket packages are available for chairbacks and bleacher seating, and eight-game Mini-plan packs also are available.
