Coghlan Joins Southern Miss Athletics Staff
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini has announced the employment of Shane Coghlan as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Ticket Operations.
"We are extremely pleased to have hired Shane Coghlan," Giannini said. "He comes to us very highly recommended with a solid ticketing background in Division I athletics. Shane will help us continue to improve our customer service and will be a valuable asset to our staff."
Coghlan is currently in his seventh year working in a Division I athletic ticket office setting, previously serving in posts at Iowa State, Texas State University-San Marcos and most recently at the University of Texas.
"I am very excited to be a part of such a prestigious athletic department," Coghlan said. "I jumped at the opportunity to join Mr. Giannini and the athletic administrative team he has assembled here at Southern Miss."
Coghlan comes to Southern Miss after serving as an assistant ticket manager at Texas, since 2003. While with the Longhorns, he primarily served as the ticket manager for women's basketball, softball and soccer, handling the day-to-day ticketing requirements for those sports. He organized all sales for several NCAA postseason events, including the first two rounds of the women's basketball tournament, baseball regionals and super-regionals, and with the track and field national championship meet. He assisted in the management of the ticket office and with the supervision of ticket office personnel.
Prior to his stint with Texas, he was the Athletic Ticket Manager at Texas State-San Marcos from 2000-2003, supervising in the daily operations of the ticket office. He performed all ticket office duties essential to organizing and managing a variety of athletic event, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer and other special events.
A 1997 graduate of Wayne State College in Nebraska, Coghlan first entered the collegiate athletic scene with the ticket office at Iowa State, where he served as the Box Office Coordinator from 1998-1999. While at Iowa State, he served as a telecommunications and customer service coordinator, supervising ticket operations and event management for volleyball, soccer and wrestling, including the Big 12 wresting tournament.
Coghlan is married to the former Megan Saville of Austin, Texas, and the couple has one son, Hayden (1).
