Eubanks Named Conference USA Special Teams Player Of The Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss junior John Eubanks was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, for the week ending Oct. 11.

Eubanks had three kickoff returns for 158 yards in Southern Miss? 35-29 overtime win over Houston, including a 97-yard return for a touchdown that was the longest return in M.M. Roberts Stadium history.

This marks the second time in Eubanks? career that he has received the honor, earning his first award following last year?s Cincinnati game (10/4/03), in which he had four returns for 152 yards, including a 94-yard touchdown.

Southern Miss players have been honored five times this season as Conference USA Players of the Week. Senior linebacker Michael Boley has been tabbed Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, Sept. 13 and Oct. 3. Luke Johnson and Darren McCaleb were honored as Conference USA Special Teams Players of the Week on Sept. 27 and Sept. 13 respectively.

Southern Miss, ranked 24^th in the AP and 25th in the Coaches, returns to action Saturday at Alabama, in a 2:37 p.m., kickoff from Bryant Denny Stadium. The game can be viewed on pay-per-view.
