Golden Eagles Top UAB Again, Take 17-12 Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ? Southern Miss? defense recovered four UAB fumbles and the Golden Eagle offense put up 314 yards as Head Coach Jeff Bower?s team evened its record at 1-1 with a 17-12 victory over the Blazers here, Thursday, at Legion Field.
Micky D?Angelo threw for 197 yards and one touchdown on 14-of-20 passing, while running back Tim Blackwell rushed for a game-high 88 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown.
The win was the Golden Eagles? fourth in a row in the series with UAB, with all four games being decided by a touchdown or less.

Freshman kicker Darren McCaleb connected on a 20-yard field goal in the third quarter to extend Southern Miss? lead to 11. But the Blazers struck again in the final period, benefiting from a Darrell Hackney-to-Bradly Chavez 8-yard touchdown combination.
