Season Ticket Sales Surge Past 2002 Ending Total
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini today announced that 2003 football season ticket sales recently surged past the total for the 2002 season.
Season ticket sales set school records in 2002 when the total reached 20,793, and that total has already been surpassed, at 21,530, with almost five weeks remaining in this year?s sales campaign, which will end the day of the Sept. 13 home opener versus Memphis. Final totals for the 2003 season will be announced in late September.
The Southern Miss Ticket Office also reports brisk sales of three game mini-packs. Single game ticket sales for the Sept. 25 clash with Nebraska game are presently limited to 2003 football season ticketholders and Eagle Club members, making season tickets and mini packs the only way for the general public to get tickets for this highly anticipated matchup. Ticket inventory for the Nebraska game is quickly dwindling, and it is forecast that single game and mini-pack sales, including this game, will be suspended by the end of August.
Single-game tickets are available for the five remaining home games versus Memphis, South Florida (Oct. 25), Louisiana-Lafayette (Nov. 1), Tulane (Nov. 15) and TCU (Nov. 20).
?Our Golden Eagle fans have done an outstanding job of purchasing their season tickets, mini- packs, and single-game tickets for the upcoming season,? said Giannini. ?We all know how important a full stadium is to the success of our football team as well as our other athletic programs, and I think the atmosphere we'll have for each of our home games, and especially the Nebraska game, will set new standards in that regard. Fans should remember that we still have tickets available, but as the excitment grows, we won't be able to say that for very long, and we still have almost five weeks remaining before our first home game.?
The ticket office also announced that away game tickets for the California, UAB and Alabama games will be mailed the week of Aug. 11. Ticket allotments have not yet been received for away games at Cincinnati, Houston and East Carolina. Season tickets and parking passes are slated to be mailed the week of Aug. 18.
