Eagles Sign Two Basketball Standouts
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Southern Miss added a pair of players to the Golden Eagle basketball roster today, with the addition of junior college standouts, Ronald (JR) Pittman and Rudolph Mauricette.
The two signees complete spring recruiting for the Golden Eagles, who signed Mendenhall, Miss., standout Emanuel Willis (6-7, 220) during the fall signing period and Brannon Hayes (6-9, 235) early in the spring signing period.
Pittman, a 6-6, 220-pound forward, is a native of Washington, D.C., who played at Friendly High School, and last season averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals a game at Tyler Junior College in Texas.
Mauricette, a 6-11, 265-pound native of Paris, France, played at Guadalupe High School and last season averaged 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots a game at Lee Junior College, also in Texas. At Lee, he also was a teammate of Hayes, who signed with the Eagles early in the spring period.
"We're excited to have Ronald and Rudolph join our program," said Head Coach James Green. "Ronald plays at a high energy level, is a good defender and a solid rebounder. Rudolph has a great build for the game. He has a tremendous upside for us in that he can provide quick help inside, and we expect instant help from both players."
Southern Miss returns four starters from last season, along with eight of nine lettermen.
