Hattiesburg, Miss. --- Southern Miss football fans can experience again some of the greatest moments in Golden Eagle football history with the release and sale of the Southern Miss Football collection on VHS and DVD.
This collection features the football highlights and recruiting videos produced for Southern Miss athletics from 1973 to 2002, plus a newly produced video honoring the 1958 UPI College Division National Championship team.
The latest video is 2002 Southern Miss Football: The Heart of Champions, a 60-minute look at last fall's stirring season for the Golden Eagles. The 42-minute video honoring the 1958 National Championship team is entitled 1958 Southern Miss Football: The Championship Season and includes observations from members of the team, coaching staff and support staff, still photographs and video of the games that made up the exciting 9-0 championship season. Fans can relive the exciting Hugh McInnis field goal to beat Memphis State in the final seconds at Faulkner Field, the 502 yards rushing against Virginia Tech, the victory over North Carolina State in Mobile, Alabama, plus the spectacular Thanksgiving Day goal line stand at Chattanooga to preserve the perfect season.
All the way through the Southern Miss video collection, the Golden Eagle fans also can relive magical moments such as the 1977 victory over Ole Miss in a driving rainstorm, the extraordinary 1980 and 1981 seasons led by Sammy Winder, Reggie Collier, Marvin Harvey and the Nasty Bunch defense and Winder's legendary dive, 1982's win at Tuscaloosa over Bear Bryant and Alabama, snapping the Tide's 56-game home winning streak, Brett Favre's 1989 Miracle of Louisville, the 1996, 1997 and 1999 Conference USA championships and bowl wins over Pittsburgh and TCU and many, many more.
