Bell and Davis Earn C-USA Softball Honors
Ashley Davis became the third Lady Eagle ever to be listed on the C-USA All-Freshman Team. |
Bell leads the Lady Eagles in hitting with a .283 batting average. She has recorded 19 runs, four doubles, two triples, five home runs and 19 RBIs. The junior came alive at the plate during the month of April, as she hit 13-for-38 (.342) in the last 17 games with eight runs, three doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs.
Her five home runs tie her personal best, as she blasted five homers in 2002 and in 2001. She currently is on a four-game hitting streak and has hit safely in five of the last six games.
Davis collected three-straight multi-hit games at the end of April. The freshman hit 7-for-10 in the last three games of April with three doubles. She leads the Lady Eagles with 10 doubles on the season.
DePaul senior pitcher Lindsay Chouinard took home both Conference Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year honors, and South Florida Coach Ken Eriksen was named C-USA Coach of the Year. East Carolina?s Christine Sheridan was selected as the league?s Freshman of the Year.
The Blue Demons featured five players on the first team All-C-USA, including infielders Liz Bouck and Saskia Roberton, outfielder Dana Kenney, Chouinard and utility player Sarah Martz.

USF had the highest total of members on the second team, as four Bulls including catcher Courtney Lewellen, Carmela Liwag, Shelly Riker and Renee Oursler received second-team honors.
