DePaul Takes Two Against Lady Eagles
CHICAGO, Ill. ? The 10th-ranked DePaul Blue Demons proved their top-national seeding with a shutout sweep against the Southern Miss softball team, 2-0 and 11-0, in five innings, this afternoon, at Wish Field.

A pitchers? dual was featured in the opener, as Blue Demon ace Lindsay Chouinard threw a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts. The senior improved to 15-3 on the year.
Jessica Holaway (9-11) surrendered five hits, two runs, one walk and two strikeouts. The junior threw a no-hitter until the fourth inning, when DePaul (23-4, 10-1) got on the scoreboard.
Katy Kukman put down the suicide squeeze to allow Sarah Martz to come home, and the Blue Demons led 1-0 after the fourth. Christina Douglas smashed her fourth home run of the season, when she banged a solo shot over the right field fence, giving DePaul the 2-0 lead in the fifth.
Southern Miss (17-22, 3-8) stranded five runners of the basepaths. On four occasions, there were Lady Eagles in scoring positions, but DePaul?s defense prevented the run opportunities.
