Game One: Southern Miss 2, Louisville 0
Brown tripled to right field and scored pinch-runner Kim Bishop and Charity Butler in the sixth inning, giving the Lady Eagles the 2-0 win. Brown batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs in game one, and Butler batted 2-for-4 with a run.
Jessica Holaway (8-9) collected her fifth shutout of the season and her third-straight win in consecutive starts. She surrendered seven hits and one walk while striking out three.
Louisville (13-13, 5-2) challenged Southern Miss (15-18, 3-5) throughout the early contest, outhitting the Lady Eagles, 7-4. Michelle Vasquez led the Cardinals, batting 2-for-3.
Jessica Rak (7-6) pitched the four-hit complete game for Louisville. The senior recorded 10 strikeouts but gave up seven walks.
Game Two: Louisville 2, Southern Miss 0
The Cardinals scored their two runs in the third inning, as Vasquez started the plate action with a double to left center that scored Aja Sherman. Vasquez reached home on a throwing error by catcher Laura Smith, who attempted to get Shannon Nord stealing second, and Louisville went up 2-0.
Each team produced the same in hit production in game one, as Louisville outhit Southern Miss, 7-4. Keola Calderon led the Cardinals with 2-for-3 batting.
Krystle Herold (2-5) went the distance for Louisville, pitching the four-hitter and recording four strikeouts. It was the sophomore?s first shutout of the season.
Brown batted 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, Butler finished 1-for-2 hitting, and Ashley Brenan repeated her performance in the opener, batting 1-for-3 in the nightcap and extending her hitting streak to 10 games.
Danielle Hatfield (3-2) recorded the loss. She gave up seven hits, one earned run, no walks and a strikeout.
