Workout No. 3 Is In The Books
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Southern Miss got in its third spring football workout Saturday, ended the two hour-plus session with the team concentrating more on the offense.
?We've put in a lot on offense the last three days," said Head Coach Jeff Bower. ?We probably had more mistakes and missed assignments than we did the first two days, but a lot of that is to be expected, as much as we put in the first three days. I would like to see us come out compete harder and be more physical. I know from an offensive stand point, there is so much thinking going on, and when you're thinking so much, you have a tendency to not be as intense.
"It's going to take a little time to get the entire offense in this spring," Bower said. "It's also going to take some time for them (players) also. They are going to have to do a little extra off-the-field studying and mentally rehearsing in order for us to get where we need to be.
"Right now, everybody is on the same level. These coaches, offensively, are learning about the guys. That's why the competition ought to be good because this should be new life for some of these guys who didn't play a whole lot. Everybody is starting out on the same page. Our off season has been good, but we have 12 more days left and it's critical that we make use of every single one and get better."
The Eagles continue their weekend spring practices with a Sunday workout starting at 2:30 p.m. A scrimmage will be included as part of Sunday's workout.
