? With the win today, Southern Miss has rolled off three-consecutive Conference
? The league victory also gives Southern Miss its first 5-0 start in Conference
? Matt Shirmer?s 1-yard touchdown run at the
? Quarterback Dustin Almond, who has started the last three games, finished with 237 yards on 17-of-26 passing with two touchdowns in the game. The yardage is the second-most of Almond?s career, behind only a 258-yard outing against USF last season (
? Running back Anthony Harris had a team-high 83 yards and scored one touchdown on 21 carries in the game. It?s his third-straight game with 75 yards or more and also his third-straight game with a score.
? Wide receiver Marvin Young finished with 84 yards on four catches and grabbed one touchdown. The game marked the third-straight contest in which Young grabbed a touchdown pass. He also returned four punts for 112 yards, including a 64-yarder in the second quarter ? the second-longest return of his career. The 112 yards is the fourth-most in school history. Young also has the third-most with 124 yards against
? Sophomore receiver DaRon Lawrence notched career-highs in catches (6) and receiving yards (85) today. The totals were the most of any receiver who participated in the game.
? Freshman place-kicker Darren McCaleb made a 24-yard field goal in the opening quarter, his eighth-straight of the season. His second attempt was blocked however, breaking a streak that dated back to the
? Redshirt-sophomore Luke Johnson, the starting punter, also handled every kickoff for the Golden Eagles today. Johnson had six kickoffs today, putting all of them in the end zone ? one of which was returned. For the season, Johnson has seven kickoffs reach the end zone, six being touchbacks. He also finished with five punts for a 36.2-yard average. He had a long of 45 and four inside the 20.
? John Eubanks returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown today, marking the first fumble return for a touchdown since Roy Magee did the same against Tulane on
? Linebacker Rod Davis returned to action today after missing last week?s game against Louisiana-Lafayette ? the first miss of his career. With 11 tackles,
? Two other Southern Miss players had more than 10 tackles. Michael Boley had a team-high 16 tackles (9 solos), while Etric Pruitt followed with 14 tackles (8 solos).
