Southern Miss Wraps Up Tulane Preparation HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
It was the final practice before the annual "Battle for the Bell." The Golden Eagles (6-3, 5-0 in Conference USA) host the Green Wave (4-6, 2-4), Saturday, at 2:06 p.m., at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower was pleased with the week's work, but he also wants to ensure that his players maintain their focus for this upcoming game.
"These last two practices went all right," Bower said. "We had a good week of preparation. The concentration was good, but we have to clean up a few things. I hope that the players understand that they need to focus and prepare because it will take all that to play well."
Bower said the team is doing well on the injury front, and everyone should be ready to play.
Bower also looks forward to the expected crowd for this game and knows that his team truly appreciates all the fan support.
"We have great fans, and I hope our fans come out and support this football team," Bower said. "I hope they understand that they can help us be successful by supporting us and packing The Rock. I hope they do that for our team because I know it means a lot to our players."
The game will be televised on the ESPNPlus network and will be carried locally on the CSS network. The Southern Miss/ISP Sports Network will broadcast the game with the "Voice of the Golden Eagles" John Cox serving as the play-by-play announcer. Former Southern Miss quarterback Vic Purvis will handle the color analysis, and Lance Pittman will be the sideline reporter.
