Southern Miss Wraps Up USF Preparation HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
The team had a light practice Thursday afternoon, capping off two weeks of practice for the game at M.M. Roberts Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:07 p.m.
Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower was pleased with the final day's work, as well as with the overall preparation.
"Mentally we are into it, and the execution was there. It was a good Thursday," Bower said. "The week was good. We have worked very hard the last two weeks. We backed off a bit today, but the preparation has been very good."
A decision has not yet been made as to which quarterback will start Saturday's game against the Bulls. Bower said Wednesday that Dustin Almond and Damion Carter have been taking the majority of snaps in practice. Early-season starter Micky D'Angelo has not played since suffering a concussion against Memphis.
"The quarterbacks looked good. We worked them all," Bower said. "We are going to look at the practice tape again today, but I don't know if we'll name a starter until probably before the game. It's the same situation with the running backs."
Bower said that sophomore receiver Pedi Causey is out for the game after suffering a separated shoulder on Wednesday. Reserve running back Ryan Earnest (foot) hasn't practiced for two days, but he should be able to dress for the game.
The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net Florida, which can be seen in the state of Florida or by owners of the Fox Sports Package on Direct TV.
The Southern Miss ISP Sports Network will broadcast the game live, with John Cox handling play-by-play duties and former Eagle quarterback Vic Purvis on color, and Lance Pittman on the sideline.
