Golden Eagle Football Adds Wide Receivers Coach
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Southern Miss Head Football Coach Jeff Bower has announced the hiring of David Warner as the Golden Eagles' wide receivers coach. He comes to Southern Miss after serving as the passing game coordinator at the University of Houston over the past year.
"David is an outstanding coach, who came highly recommended by numerous people," Bower said. "He brings impressive credentials here to Southern Miss, and I was very impressed when I talked with him. We had an opportunity to watch Houston several times on tape last year, and they were an outstanding team offensively. I am happy that he has decided to come to Southern Miss and become a part of the Golden Eagle football program."
Warner has coached as a passing game or offensive coordinator at Houston (Passing Game Coordinator-QB/2001-02), Connecticut (Offensive Coordinator-QB/1999-2000) and Wyoming (Passing Game Coordinator-QB/1998) and as an assistant coach at Bucknell (QB/1997), Kansas (QB/1988-96), Kent State (QB-RB/1984-87) and Syracuse (Graduate Assistant-QB-WR/1982-83).
Warner earned his bachelor's degree in speech communications from Syracuse in 1982 and earned his master's degree in physical education, also at Syracuse, in 1984.
