From the Trail
This past week was a culmination of frolic workouts and long runs. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we had a 6 a.m., 3- minute jog. In the afternoon on Monday, we had a hill workout for 30 minutes, and on Wednesday we had mile repeats. The harder days of the week are Mondays and Wednesdays because on Tuesdays and Thursdays we do a 45 minute jog and a circuit workout. These workouts prepared us for the race on Friday, especially on Wednesday since we had such a good workout, and we did so well. Friday we left at 1:30 to travel to Tulane, and when we got to New Orleans, it was raining. About 45 minutes prior to race time, we did a 10-minute jog and stretched. The Tulane meet was at the River Front park. It was flat except for the levy so it was a pretty fast course. The ground was really wet, so running up and down the hills, you have to watch your footing. We placed well as a team, and Jessica and I finished in the top 15. I felt really good that day, and I was satisfied with my finish. The Tulane meet was a good first race to prepare us for our home meet this weekend which will be a 5k.
