Basketball Eagles Add Another Signee
Southern Miss Head Basketball Coach James Green today announced the signing of 6-7, 200-pound, guard/forward, Greg Johnson, of Phenix City, Ala.
Johnson played at Central High School in Phenix City, where he was an all-state selection in each of his final sophomore, junior and senior seasons there (1997-1999).
He spent the last two seasons at Southern Union Community College in Wadley, Ala., where he averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists a game as a sophomore. He also earned all-region honors.
Green feels Johnson can have an immediate impact for the Golden Eagles. "We're excited to have Greg be a part of our basketball family," Green said. "His offensive and defensive versatility makes him a great addition to our program."
Johnson will join earlier signees Geoffrey Brown, Jason Forte, Sam Richardson and Jarekus Singleton, along with Charles Gaines, who sat out last season and will be eligible for the 2002-03 season.
