Eaglefest Weekend Promises To Be A Weekend of Fun
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Eaglefest weekend, April 12-14, is just a day away and it promises to be a weekend of fun for everyone, highlighted by the April 12 M-Club Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremonies and the annual Black and Gold spring football game at 1 p.m., April 13.
The M-Club Sports Hall of Fame will induct a seven-member class in Friday night ceremonies at the Lake Terrace Convention Center, starting with a reception-social hour at 6 p.m., and the banquet-induction at 7 p.m. Members being inducted in the 2002 class include: Willie "Teenie" Coats (football, 1955-58), Bobby Collins (former Golden Eagle head coach, 1975-81), Marvin Harvey (football, 1977-80), L.T. Herrmann (football, 1952-54), Diana Lyons-Jones (women's basketball, 1977-79), Steve Knight (baseball, 1975-78) and Chuck Rohe (track, 1952-53).
Tickets to the Friday night reception and banquet are on sale at the Ferlise Center ticket office. They are $25 each, and reserved tables for eight are available for $200. The Ferlise Ticket Office also has spring football game tickets that are priced at $5 for ages 13 and up and $2 for ages 12 and under. Game tickets also will be sold game day at both north and south entrances to west stadium at Roberts Stadium.
Last year's event drew a capacity crowd at the Lake Terrace Convention Center and tickets are expected to sell equally as fast this year.
In addition to the Friday night function, the annual M-Club business meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m., April 13, in the Charcoal Room behind Vann Hall; and, Head Coach Corky Palmer and his baseball Golden Eagles will entertain Louisville in a 6:30 p.m., Friday C-USA series opener that will continue with a 4 p.m., Saturday game and a 1 p.m., Sunday finale. The World Wrestling Federation (WWF) will be in action at Reed Green Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night. Tickets are still available for the event.
