Gonzales Named C-USA Pitcher of the Week
Gonzales collected two wins during the Lady Eagles? three-game sweep over Houston last week. She came in relief to pick up the win game one, giving up one run on a hit and a walk in 2.1 innings and fanning two. She started game three against the Cougars and gave up two runs on three hits, while striking out six.
The senior from Houston, Texas, finished the week by pitching a two-hit shutout against Saint Louis. She gave up four walks and struck out five against the Billikens. On the year, she holds a 5-3 record, with a 4.18 ERA and 54 strikeouts.
Gonzales was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week twice last year, ending the season as the league?s Pitcher of the Year. She is the second Lady Eagle pitcher to receive the weekly honor this season, as Jessica Holaway was named Pitcher of the Week on March 4.
