Missouri (4-8) held a 1-0 lead after the second inning, when Rachael McGinnis homered to left field. The Tigers also held the Lady Eagles to two hits after five innings.
In the top of the sixth, Southern Miss (5-5) faced two outs with Auriel Jenkins on third, when Brown came up to bat. The junior faced a 1-2 count and sent the pitch over the left field fence. It was Brown?s first home run of the season and ended her four-game hitting drought.
Felicia Gonzales picked up her first win of the season, improving her record to 1-1. She went the distance giving up one run on three hits, walking four and striking out six.
Tiger pitcher Ingrid Werner fell to 2-2 on the year. She gave up four hits and two runs, while striking out three and giving up no walks.
The Lady Eagles will face No. 25 Massachusetts at 10 a.m., on Sunday, Feb. 24, and the winner will advance to the championship game of the bronze tournament at noon.
