Southern Miss Finish First Day With Four Points
The Southern Miss women's indoor track and field team finished the first day at the Conference USA Indoor Championship with four points.
In the first day of competition at the C-USA Track and Field Championships, Marquette?s women?s team is in the lead with 35.5 points, while Charlotte?s men?s squad is in first place with 44.5 points on Friday, Feb. 22 in Bloomington, Ind.
The distance medley relay team of Oby Amadi, S'Dori Sims, Jessica Crump and Janet Rono, finished firth with a time of 12:11.22.
In other competition, Prudence qualified for the finals in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. Reid posted the second fastest time in the 60 meters and third fastest in the 200 meters. Crump and Oby qualified for the 800 meters. Crump is the defending champion in the 800 meters. Tamara Dayes finished 9th in the weight throw, just missing out on scoring for the Eagles. Hope Sinclair just missed qualifying for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with the ninth best time.
The final day of competition begins at 11 a.m., Saturday.
