Lady Eagles Beat Rams, 5-1, Win Two Straight
STARKVILLE, Miss. ? The Southern Miss softball team finished its final game in the Bulldog Classic with a 5-1 victory over Colorado State, going 2-0 on the day with a 7-2 win over host Mississippi State.
Melissa Cundiff went the distance, giving up one unearned run and three hits. She walked one batter and fanned nine.
Kenya Peters added her first home run of the season solo shot to right center. She went one-for-two in the game, and four-for-five on the day, after hitting a perfect three-for-three against the Bulldogs. Her home run also gave her sole possession of the Southern Miss career home run title with 30.
The Lady Eagles are 4-2 on the year. Colorado State falls to 2-6.
