Magee Named Verizon Academic All-District Second Team
This is the fourth-straight year the Golden Eagles have had a football player named to the team and seventh time Southern Miss has had a football player named either first or second team all-district. Magee is majoring in exercise science and posted a 3.44 grade point average.
The Verizon Academic All-District VI team is comprised of student-athletes from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Only members of the first team will be forwarded on to the national ballot.
Magee played in six games this season before having problems with a back injury that has kept him out since the Cincinnati game on Oct. 19. He has 23 tackles, a pass breakup and a tackle for loss. He had a season high six tackles against Jackson State and at Alabama. He registered four tackles at Army and against Cincinnati.
As a freshman last season, Magee was selected a Freshman All-American by The Sporting News and was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team. He finished with 34 tackles, half a sack, three tackles for loss, six pass breakups, a forced fumble, a blocked kick and two fumble recoveries. Magee finished with a season-high six tackles at Memphis and had five tackles at Louisville.
