From the Trail
Monday, October 21 - I'm tired from the long weekend. Saturday's Cross Country meet in Auburn took everything out of me. I did pretty well, especially with a soar knee. I have to start treatment today. I'm hoping that my knee will get better before the conference meet, which is two weeks from now. I guess all I can do is work hard and pray.
Tuesday - Treatment went well. I had to have an ultrasound. That was the first and wont be the last. My knee really hurts. It hurts when I walk, go up and down stairs, and it really hurts when I run. My trainer wants me to take it easy this week, so I did not have to go to practice today. I'll definitely be there today. I guess now I have more time to do some homework, study and relax.
Wednesday - Today, we had to run Rails of Trails. It's a long never-ending cement trail. I hate running on the trail. It really makes your feet hurt and if you have a case of shine splints you will really be in some pain. My knee did not agree at all with the trail so I had to stop and walk then pick it up again with a very slow jog.
Thursday and Friday - I did not have to practice. My trainers did not want to over work my knee so they gave me a break. I still had to go to treatment which was basically the same, an ultrasound, followed by a good stretch and some ice. The weekend was something to look forward to, I get to go home, and I also get to sleep in.
Open Weekends are things I look forward too because I rarely get to sleep in or stay up late and not worry about an 8 a.m. class.
Monday - The week before the Cross Country meet, and my knee is still hurting. I am getting worried. My parents are making plans to be at the Conference meet and I want to be able to run my best. My treatments are now twice a day instead of once a day. I ran in practice and my knee is still killing me. I felt better than last week though. That's the only good news.
Tuesday and Wednesday went by pretty fast. Practice is starting to slow down so that our legs will be ready for the run on Saturday. My knee is getting better. Things are looking good.
Thursday, Halloween - Today, we had to run on our own for 25 minutes. I also helped out in the Union building for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. We passed out candy and stickers. It was really fun. Tomorrow will be all business though. We will jog the course and then have our Cross Country Banquet. I'm really excited. The Conference meet is in two days.
