Southern Miss Hosts 2002 Conference USA Cross Country Championship
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss cross country team will host the 2002 Conference USA Cross Country Championship, Nov. 2, at the Van Hook Golf Course.
The meet gets underway with the women's race starting at 9 a.m., in a 6K-run, followed by the men's 8K race approximately at 9:45 a.m. Awards ceremony is scheduled to followed the completion of the men's race.
The field features the 14 men's and women's C-USA teams, including Charlotte, Cincinnati, DePaul, East Carolina, Houston, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Saint Louis, South Florida, Southern Miss, TCU, Tulane and UAB. Southern Miss and UAB have only women's cross country teams competing.
Last year, Marquette's women's team captured the team title, while the Tulane Green Wave won the men's team title. Marquette's women's team is currently ranked 20th in the latest Finish Lynx NCAA Division I National Poll conducted by the Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association.
Results will be available at www.SouthernMiss.com by approximately noon.
