Southern Miss' Mills Promoted to Falcons' Travel Roster
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Former Southern Miss receiver Shawn Mills has been promoted from the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad to the travel roster for this weekend's game at St. Louis. Mills originally signed with the Falcons as a free agent but was cut in September. The Falcons re-signed him in October and placed him on the practice squad.
In 2000, Mills led the Golden Eagles receivers with 55 catches for 713 yards, an average of 13.0 yards a catch, and scored five touchdowns.
Mills marks the third Golden Eagle from the 2000 squad to make an active roster this season. Cedric Scott, a fourth-round draft choice of the New York Giants and John Nix, a seventh round draft choice of the Dallas Cowboys, both have seen playing time this season. With Mills on the active roster, Southern Miss now has 16 players on rosters, both active and practice, of NFL teams.
