Southern Miss Set to Host 22nd Annual Cross Country Meet
The Southern Miss cross country team will host 22nd Annual Cross Country Invitational, Friday, Sept. 21, at the B. O. Van Hook Golf Course, Lake Sehoy Pavilion side.
The meet features 10 college and university teams and 14 high schools.
Southern Miss women's team is the two-time defending champion in the university division, and the Ole Miss men's team returns to defend their title in the men's university division. Spring Hill women's team won the college division last season, and Hinds Community College won the men's college division.
The women's 5K-race starts approximately 4:30 p.m., followed by the men's 8K-race at 5 p.m. The high school girls will run a two-mile race, beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by the high school boys at approximately 4 p.m., and running a 5K-race.
The collegiate teams once again will be divided into two divisions, college and university. St. Andrew's girls are the defending champion, and Pearl High School is the boys' defending champion in the high school division.
Southern Miss' Jesscia Crump returns to defend her individual title. Crump was the overall winner last season. Southeastern Louisiana's Michael Sang was the overall winner in the men's race last season.
