Football Scrimmage Set for Saturday
practice of the week Friday, the first full pads session of the spring, and will end the first week
of spring work with a 9:30 workout/scrimmage Saturday morning.
The Saturday workout is open to the public, the team will go through a regular workout routine
for the first part of Saturday's workout and then scrimmage the final half of the morning
session.
Head Coach Jeff Bower did find the spring's first full pads workout to his liking. "I thought
today's practice was average, at best," he said. "From the start of practice to the finish, we
didn't have much enthusiasm, and we should have had a lot, being the first day in pads. There's
no excuse for not having a lot of enthusiasm, under the circumstances.
"We did pick it up some when we got to the team period. In fact, we may need to tone that
down a little when we get to the scrimmage, but that's normal for a first day in pads."
The team is scheduled to get in four more workouts next week as the Eagles head for an April
7 spring game that will highlight a full weekend of activities. Barring weather problems, that
spring game will count as workout number 11, leaving Bower and the Golden Eagles four
post-spring game workouts the following week.
