Southern Miss Cross Country Team Update
The Southern Miss women?s cross country team returns to action this week, competing in the NCAA Pre-Regional Invitational, Oct. 6, in Birmingham, Ala.
Coach Dena Reif and her Lady Eagles took a week off following their annual cross country meet. The Lady Eagles successfully defended their title, winning the 22nd Annual Southern Miss Cross Country Invitational.
Newcomer Janet Rono made her collegiate debut, finishing first overall out of 80 runners to capture the individual title. She ran a 17:59.16 in the 5K-race, 26 seconds ahead of the next finisher. The Eagles placed five runners in the top 10, winning the team title.
Following the NCAA Pre-Regional Invitational, the Eagles will compete in the Mississippi College Invitational, Oct. 13.
