Event Waiver
Southern Miss Athletics is hosting the 1st annual Southern Miss Scout Campout on Saturday, November 3rd for the football game against Marshall. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are invited to attend the game and camp out on the field afterwards. Registration is $30 and includes a game ticket, dinner, an event scout patch, a movie, and a reservation to camp on the field after the game.Registration: Advance registration is required for all campers and chaperones. The registration fee is $30 and includes a game ticket, dinner, an event patch and a reservation to camp on the field after the game. Participation waivers must be submitted at check-in on game day.
Parking: Free parking is available in and around campus. The closest and most recommended parking is in the Gravel Lot located off Ross Blvd. across from the Theatre and Dance Building. Stadium access for dropping off camping gear will not be available.
Check-in: Bring your camping supplies to the Thad Cochran Center before kick-off to check-in and store your gear during the game. Check-in will run from 12:00-1:30 p.m. (kick-off is at 2:00 p.m.). You must stop by the check-in prior to the game to sign in, pick up your game tickets, and store your camping supplies during the game.
Post-Game: Following the game, return to Thad Cochran Center. This will allow time for the stadium to clear while we retrieve your camping supplies, get your camping assignments and receive wristbands for stadium access. Post-Game access to Thad Cochran will not be available until the football game ends.
Camping: After the stadium clears, the field will be open for tent setup. Free standing tents are required as staking will not be permitted on the field. The stadium will be divided into a camping zone for Boy Scouts, a camping zone for Girl Scouts, and a family section for mixed camping groups.
Dinner: Dinner will be served starting at 7:00 p.m. in the West Concourse. The West Side football stands will be available for seating during dinner. No food or drinks other than water is permitted on the football field. Dinner will finish serving at 9:00 p.m.
Movie: A movie will be shown starting at 9:30 p.m. on the video board with quiet time at 12:00 a.m.
Morning: Camp breakdown will be from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. The stadium must be empty by 9 a.m.
Other Notes:
- USM requires one chaperone for at least every six campers
- Tent stakes, fires, and or grills are not permitted
- Stadium will be locked down from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. unless there is an emergency
- Restrooms will be available in the stadium on the North end of the West Concourse
- Camping will be limited to the field area only, there will be no access to the remainder of the stadium
- In the event of inclement weather, a cancellation announcement will be made by 10 a.m. on the day of the game
