HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss beach volleyball head coach Shawn Taylor today announced the program's schedule for the 2025 season.
The Golden Eagles will host two home tournaments over a total of three days as part of their nine-tournament regular season before heading to Foley, Ala., for the Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball Championships.
"Our 2025 spring schedule brings a whole lot of excitement," said Taylor. "The slate will take us almost as far east and as far west as you can go playing beach volleyball in the continental United States. With that level of travel, our opponents will also be wide-ranging. We're familiar with a few teams and arenas but we will also be excited to attack new opponents in new settings."
"We get to kick of the season at home with an incredible schedule, including matching up with North Alabama, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, LSU and Spring Hill. We've got some work to do over the next few weeks before we are ready, but I can't wait to get the season rolling. We look forward to seeing all our Golden Eagle faithful in the sand on February 21st!"
Southern Miss opens its season in Hattiesburg beginning on Friday, Feb. 21, with the Beach Burg Invitational. Competition lasts two days and will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Golden Eagles then hit the road for the Florida International Invitational beginning on Feb. 28, and playing until March 1.
A March 5 trip to Atlanta, Ga., for the Georgia State Diggin' Duals begins a busy week as the Golden Eagles travel to Long Beach, Calif., for the Beach Invitational. Action at Long Beach City College's Beach Volleyball Courts begins on March 7 and lasts until March 8. In total, Southern Miss will play 11 matches in nine days.
The road swing continues on March 15 as Southern Miss heads to Youngsville, La., for the two-day Sugar Beach Bash. After taking a weekend off, the Golden Eagles travel to Foley, Ala., for the Sun Belt Conference's Mid-Season Tournament on March 28 and 29. The tournament serves as a chance for all Sun Belt programs to face one another before the Sun Belt Conference Championships in May.
Southern Miss returns home to host the one-day Hub City Beach Bash on April 4 in Hattiesburg. After their final home date of the year, Southern Miss heads to Baton Rouge, La., for the Tiger Beach Challenge from April 11-12. The regular season concludes in Austin, Texas, at the Lone Star Invitational. Southern Miss is in action on April 18-19 before preparing for the conference tournament.
The Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala., will serve as the host site of the Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball Championships for the first time in the conference's history. Postseason action begins on Thursday, April 24, with all seven Sun Belt programs competing for the coveted bid to the NCAA Tournament. Championship play culminates with Sun Belt Championship Game set for Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m.
