Southern Miss to Host Virtual 5K Opportunity from Aug. 29-30

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss Athletics is proud to announce a safe getaway option for fans amidst the COVID-19 pandemic with a Virtual 5K, fueled by Powerade, that will last between Saturday, Aug. 29 to Sunday, Aug. 30.
Participants can complete the race all at once or spread the distance out throughout the two-day challenge. Â Adults are encouraged to complete a 5K, while Seymour's Sidekicks members have the option of a one-mile fun run. Download any fitness tracking app and share photos, video and screenshot of your time using #SouthernMissV5K on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook to engage in the friendly competition. Funds raised will help to provide academic scholarships and educational support to our student-athletes.
The registration cost is $25, and participants will receive their runners' bibs prior to the event and a t-shirt. Each entrant will have the freedom to choose their route while being encouraged to share their journey on social media with #SouthernMissV5K.
After the race, a finisher's certificate will be sent to every participant who completes the 5K. Registration is now open and the deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 26. Â Please click here to register for the Virtual 5K. Â
