Southern Miss Enjoys Extra Yard for Teacher Visits with Hattiesburg Public Schools

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss Athletics made a pair of visits Wednesday to N.R. Burger Middle School and the Lillie Burney STEAM Academy in Hattiesburg as part of the nationwide Extra Yard for Teachers campaign.
"We are happy to partner with the CFP Foundation and Conference USA to participate in the Extra Yard for Teachers Promotion," said director of marketing Murray Littlepage. "It is a way that we can recognize and celebrate educators in our community and provide them with gift cards that will allow them to continue to make an impact on the students."
Gift cards, courtesy of Michael's, totaling $3,000 were contributed towards classroom supplies. It also comes at a crucial time for teachers in a new frontier of virtual learning and increased safety measures inside campuses amidst the pandemic.
In addition to the in-person visits, Amanda Duplessy of Oak Grove Upper Elementary was spotlighted on Conference USA's social media channels for being this week's Tag-A-Teacher recipient of a $500 Michael's gift card.
