HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Funeral arrangements for former Southern Miss football and NFL wide receiver Michael Jackson will take place Tuesday, May 16 at Temple Chapel in Kentwood, La.
Jackson passed away on May 12 at the age of 48.
There will be a brief viewing from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The funeral will proceed at 11:30 a.m. Crain Funeral Home is entrusted with the services.
Jackson, who was born and raised in Tangipahoa, La., was a standout for the Golden Eagles prior to being drafted by the Browns in 1991. He had several years of success in the league for Cleveland and Baltimore. His 14 touchdowns in 1996 tied for the NFL lead as well.
His talents stretched far beyond the football field, shown by his election to the mayoral position in Tangipahoa in 2008.
