Open Letter from Director of Athletics Jon Gilbert

To the Golden Eagle Community:
I am thrilled to report for duty as your Director of Athletics at Southern Miss.
During my first 100 days on the job, I will be meeting with Department Staff, Golden Eagle Coaches, our Student-Athletes, University Leaders, Donors, Corporate Sponsors, and an array of other Constituents across our community.
In each meeting, I plan on listening intently to understand the opportunities and challenges that each individual perceives as being most significant for our Department, and for our University.
Additionally, I will be reinforcing three themes –
* Alignment with the educational mission of the University
* Academic, athletic and social wellbeing of our Student-Athletes
* Meaningful relationships with our Department
You have my personal assurance that we will strive for excellence in all we do. I am excited to be working for, and with President Bennett, and I look forward to the day that we can meet in person.
