Outdoor Track Squads Enjoying Solid Spring Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss outdoor track and field program has enjoyed a solid spring season as they currently have six of the top marks or times among Conference USA performers and a total of 17 which ranks among the top five in the events.
On the men's side, Mario Spann has the best 100 meter dash time of 10.55 (Alabama Relays/Mar. 27), while Ramon Crockett recorded the top mark in the long jump at 7.31 meters (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3) and Kyle Smith registered the top mark in the javelin at 68.08 meters (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3).
For the women, Ashley May posts the top triple jump in C-USA with a leap of 12.63 meters (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3), along with Suesanna Williams who holds the top spot in the women's hammer at 59.43 meters (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3) and Ke'Airra Jones ranks tied for the best high jump of 1.79 meters (Alabama Relays/Mar. 27).
Top five marks for Golden Eagle men include Myreon Smith, who is second with a high jump of 2.06 meters (Alabama Relays/Mar. 27) and Marcus Norwood is ranks No. 3 at 2.05 meters (Alabama Relays/Mar. 27). Robert Collingworth possesses the fourth best shot put throw at 16.21 meters (Alabama Relays/Mar. 27), while Noah Slater has notched a 58.97 meter heave (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3) in the javelin.
Justin Sims now ranks fourth in the 100 meters race with a 10.89 time (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3), while the the 4x100 relay team holds down the fifth-best time of 42.76.
Tori Bowie and Chastity Riggien each rank second in their respective events in the women's events. Riggien has registered a 11.39 in the 100 meters (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3), and Bowie tallied a 6.27 meter long jump (Southern Miss Invite/Mar. 13). May holds down No. 5 in the long jump at 5.82 (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3).
Stephanie Ledgerwood runs into the No. 3 spot in the 10,000 meters with a 38:32.82 (Alabama Relays/Mar. 27) and the 4x100 relay team holds down fourth with a time of 45.98 (Tiger Classic/Apr. 3).
The Southern Miss track teams return to action Apr. 17, at the LSU Meet in Baton Rouge, La.
