Track and Field Gets Additions for 2009-2010 Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss track and field head coach Kevin Stephen announced the signing of 11 athletes to national letters of intent and grant-in-aid scholarships this past recruiting season for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Among the list of signees include Julien Bousquet of Montauban, France, Ramon Crockett of McComb, Miss., Oluwasuyi Georgewill of Ontario, Canada, Stephanie Ledgenwood of Yuma, Ariz., Jocelyn Lockhart of New Brunswick, Canada, Frederick Miller of Jacksonville, Fla., Kara Moylan of Palos Park, Ill., Krista Moylan of Palos Park, Ill., Brianna Rayfield of Dallas, Texas, Justin Sims of Decatur, Ga., and Petra Visic of Split, Croatia.
"I am very excited about this year's signing class," Stephen said. "This is an outstanding academic group boasting three Presidential scholars and several other honors students. They will have an immediate impact in Conference USA and help us get closer to our Championship goals. As important as anything else, this group has excellent character and will represent Southern Miss well."
Bousquet competed in the 800 meters, posting a personal best time of 1:50.20.
Crockett was a two-year letterwinner in track and football at McComb High School. He competed in the long jump and triple jump. Crockett also earned two letters at Southwest Mississippi Community College where he registered personal best marks of 24'3" and 46'10", respectively.
Georgewill attended St. Augustine Secondary School and competed in the hammer throw. He recorded a personal best mark of 186'10". Georgewill represented Canada in the Pan American Junior Championships. He was ranked No. 2 in Canada as a junior.
Ledgenwood was a four-year letterwinner at Kofa High School in cross country and track. She received all-state and all-region honors for four consecutive years. Ledgenwood competed in the 800-, 1,600-, 3,200- and 5,000 meters, posting personal best times of 2:26, 5:17, 11:35 and 18:24, respectively.
Lockhart attended Carleton North High School where she competed in cross country and the 800 and 1,500 meters. She finished second at the 2008 NBIAA high School provincials. She placed second at the 2008 cross country Atlantics and was named the Outstanding Cross Country Female for two straight years. Lockhart won the indoor Atlantics and posted a personal best time of 4:46.49 in the 1,500 meters. Her best time in the outdoor 800 meters was 2:14.71. She also earned the Outstanding Female Track and Field Athlete award.
Miller attended William M. Raines High School where he competed in the high jump. The all-state and all-conference performer posted a personal best jump of 7'2".
Kara Moylan was a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School. She recorded personal best times of 17:28 in the 3-mile race, 5:15 in the 1,600 meters and 11:12 in the 3,200 meters. She was an all-state, all-conference and all-region selection.
Krista Moylan also attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School where she was a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track while competing in the mile, two-mile and 5,000 meter events. She posted a personal best time of 5:10 in the mile, 10:58 in the two-miles and 18:29 in the 5k. She placed seventh in the two-miles at the state meet and earned MVP honors in 2008 and 2009. She also was an all-conference, all-sectional, all-regional and all-state honoree.
Rayfield was a three-year letterwinner in track at Lake Highlands High School, competing in the long jump, 200-meter dash and on the 800-meter relay team. She recorded a personal mark of 18'1" in the long jump, while running a personal-best time of 24.3 in the 200 meters. Rayfield was a regional qualifier for three years and state qualifier in the 800-meter relay team in 2009.
Sims attended Redan High School where he earned letters in track, while competing in the hurdles. He was the state champion in the 300-meter hurdles and placed second in the 110-meter hurdles at the state meet. He also was the AAU 400-meter hurdle champion in 2008.
Visic was a member of the Croatian National junior team, helping the team capture the 2008 Croatian Junior Cup. She was the junior champion in the hammer in 2008, while placing third in the senior championship in 2009. She registered a personal best throw of 54.50 meters in the hammer to place first in the Dalmatian League.
