Southern Miss football player Jeremy Young has been selected as the Southern Miss Student Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Homecoming win against Houston this weekend.
The 6-3 redshirt junior quarterback played 66 snaps, while grading 88 percent. He threw for 180 yards and went 17-of-26 passing, marking the third time he had reached that number this season. The Golden Eagles are 3-0 when Young throws for at least 180 yards.
Young's one-yard plunge with 10:47 left in the game was his second rushing TD of the season and third of his career. He finished with a total of 20 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Young is currently recovering from a turf toe injury, but Head Coach Jeff Bower expects him to be back to 100% in time for the game against Virginia Tech this Saturday.
