Trevis: It feels good to be playing in the first bowl game of the season with the New Orleans Bowl. We're going to be the only game on, and the whole world will be able to watch us on ESPN. It's always exciting to have a game on T.V. We're going to be pumped up and ready to go.
Kevis: With Lafayette being close to Hattiesburg, we are expecting a good crowd and I hope that a lot of our fans come to support us. It's going to be a big game for us, as we have to win in order to secure a winning season.
Trevis: I hope that a lot of our fans come to Lafayette to support us for the bowl game. It's been a tough season for us, and this is our last game, so we're going to need all of the fan support that we can get. Also, it's not that far down the road to Lafayette, so it's a good opportunity for the fans to come support their Golden Eagles.
Kevis: Though we're playing in the New Orleans Bowl for the second straight season, it does feel like a completely different bowl game, because it's in a different place and we're playing a new opponent. Arkansas State is a good team with a good offense.
Trevis: Arkansas State has two good running backs that both average around six to seven yards a carry each. In order to stop them, we're going to have to make good tackles, swarm to the ball and aim at stopping the running game.
Kevis: Besides playing in the bowl game, we also get some free time while we're there. Whoever is in charge of the bowl games usually has activities for us to do while we have free time. Other than that, we mostly hang out with each other during our free time, playing around in game rooms or walking around the area of the bowl game. Since I've never been to Lafayette, I don't know what we're going to do, so this is going to be a new experience for me.
Trevis: I'd have to say that the Liberty Bowl (2003) was the most fun we had at a bowl game during my career, because it's the C-USA Championship Bowl and we had just won the conference championship that year. We did a lot of things during our free time, like bowling and playing around in a game room that they set up for us. It was also nice to stay in a big hotel and hang out with my teammates in Memphis. I don't know what we're going to do in Lafayette, because I don't know much about it. (Defensive back) Jasper Faulk is from Lafayette, so I guess I'll have to ask him about the town and let him show me around to find out what there is to do in Lafayette. Regardless, we're going to make the best of it while we're down there, but most of all we're going there to win a bowl game.
Kevis: It feels good to represent the state of Mississippi for this bowl game. Southern Miss has gone to a bowl eight of the last nine years, so it's great to continue that tradition. It's going to be a good game and hopefully we'll come out with a win.
Trevis: Since this will be the last game of my career, I'm not going to beg Coach Bower to let me play the whole game, but I'm going to try to. I'm going to have fun out there, knowing it's my last game. I'm going to miss my teammates after this season, but we're going to all go out there and make the best of this bowl game and this season.
Kevis: Along with this being bowl season, it's also the Christmas season. I don't have much on my Christmas list, except to hopefully get a chance to play at the next level in the NFL. That would be a great Christmas gift. Trevis and I will start training, running, lifting weights and working hard after this bowl game for the NFL Combine and Pro Day, and hopefully that hard work will pay off in the months to come.
Trevis: I don't have too much on my Christmas list this year, but I do need to get some things for my family. As for everybody else, and especially Golden Eagle fans, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
